CCS Corporation is located in Spencer, IN. We have been in business since 1977.
At one time, we were repairing more of these units than anyone in North America. Hundreds of units per day. UPS and Fed Ex and the Post Office were all "best Buds". Maybe we still do repair more than anyone else in North America even though we don't really repair many anymore.
We are often asked, "who fixes the newer units?" Answer: I do not think anybody does.
Not sure what to say about that, but I can say, as it concerns jobs, the economy, Mexico and China, "told you so". We in the Electronics business have seen it ramp up for years.
Originally, we felt the goal in going to High Def broadcast TV was to employ American Factory workers and American Technicians. Thanks to our Congressional inability to protect the represented, I feel pretty safe in saying there were very few jobs created except at possibly the retail sales level.
I personally got into the electronics field early in 1976, when we were still using an occasional Vacuum tube. I feel I will be lucky to end my career staying in the electronic repair industry. What should have been one of our biggest growth industries has been, and is being crippled by, Corporate Greed (and us, the Stockholders greed), the Global Economy, and our personal desire to purchase the Newest Model of Everything when we know it is serving only to employ a communist worker in a foreign land.
As a further example of the Global Economy, Here in Spencer, Indiana I can purchase charcoal briquettes for my Outdoor Grill made in China. Cheap Too!
That is just plain Silly.
Certainly, a large part of the issue seems to be that it is cheaper by 50% to mail something from Hong Kong to Indiana than to mail something from Indiana to Kansas. This is easily confirmed by price checking items for sale on eBay.
Certainly, these are my personal Views and Opinions, As Chevy Chase used to say on Sat Night Live, "I could be wrong" (but I bet you can't convince me)
Anyway, back to the task at hand....
Spencer is a small town and as such the work atmosphere here is friendly, family-like, yet professional. We operate in an environment of 17,000 sq ft production, 4500 sq ft office, 10,000 sq ft of warehouse. Our building are located on the South side of the square in downtown Spencer.
Our primary focus has always been the repair of microprocessor controlled, addressable set-top boxes used for reception of scrambled television services.
However, at this time, the bulk of our business has shifted to electronics salvage and selling of assemblies and finished electronic products on eBay.
We are always in the market for new challenges. We look for items to service that are produced in sufficient quantity to allow our technicians to achieve excellence through experience.
CCS Corporation offers many types of Depot and Reverse Logistics Solution from Advanced Exchange to Empty carton return. We write our own production and Invoicing Software in-house so all programs can be customized to conform to the need of our clients.
By the way, we run on Eastern Standard Time. We work from 7:00 to 3:30. (If it is a nice day we might even go home early.) At times, people in California have a hard time calling us. Sorry, but we do not like voice mail systems so not one answers at night. We are here though, just not all the time. Maybe we should get the voice mail going. Just have not taken the time to read the book ;-)
